Universities of Applied Sciences in Holland offer programs that focus on the practical application of arts and sciences. These tend to be more practice oriented than programs offered by research universities and they prepare students for specific professions.

Research Universities in Holland are mainly responsible for offering research-oriented programmes in an academic setting.
